Today, 14.6% of landfills are filled with food waste with 40% of the food in the US going to waste. Of that 40% of food wasted, almost all of that, 97% is going to landfills. As Joe said in his award speech, instead of knowing Sendik's for their red bags, soon they will be known for their green heart.
Justin was able to present Sendik's Communications Director, Nicholas Bandoch with their award, Distinguished Commitment to Organics Diversion. After stopping in their store, we checked out their awesome InSinkErator's Grind 2 Energy system. Sendik's has 12 stores in the Milwaukee area, be sure to stop by.
