Materials Exchange: A means for your business to dispose of, or receive surplus inventory

Materials exchanges are organizations that collect surplus materials from businesses or individuals and make them available to others who can use them. Materials exchanges can save money and resources by reducing disposal costs for material donors. They also provide lower-cost materials to recipients by reusing materials rather than extracting and processing virgin materials. They are a great option to use when looking for an outlet for hard-to-recycle materials.

Materials exchanges may be operated by nonprofit organizations, government agencies, or businesses interested in making a profit from the transactions. Many of the material exchanges are conducted online via postings of materials available and/or wanted.

For a list of materials exchanges relevant to the Massachusetts area, visit WasteCap’s Materials Exchange web page at: www.wastecap.org/wastecap/links folder/Recycling links/waste_exchange.htm
