Recycle Plastic Bags

Many plastic bags such as grocery bags, or other types used in packaging can be recycled.  Plastic bags are usually made with Type 2 plastic (high density polyethylene film - HDPE) or Type 4 plastic (low density polyethylene film - LDPE) and are very recyclable.

For Massachusetts business that deal with a lot of plastic packaging, there are recylers available to you. Checkout WasteCap's Recycling Services Directory for a list of recyclers in your area.

It is also important to note that most grocery stores will accept their bags back and have recycling bins in the store.

Much of the recycled plastic is used to create plastic lumber, an earth-friendly alternative to wood.
