Use
Earth Day to Promote
Recycling at Your Company
Take advantage of Earth Day (April 22) to promote what
your company’s waste reduction program is
accomplishing. Do something that will get the attention of your fellow
employees. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to hold an event in a
cafeteria or other central meeting place.
Here are some Earth Day
event ideas:
- Create a stand or booth to set up in the cafeteria
that describes the program and its accomplishments. Pass out promotional
items made from recycled materials.
- Establish a program that emphasizes reusable mugs in
the cafeteria. Sell mugs with the company logo or recycling info. Give
drink discounts to those who use the mugs.
- Create a Waste Reduction Award and present it to the
individual or department that consistently watches its waste.

- Conduct a quiz regarding the procedures of the
recycling program. Give prizes out to the winners.
- Consider participating in the Clean Your Files Day
Program. The program is designed to provide office managers and recycling
coordinators with an opportunity to educate employees about recycling at
work. www.cleanyourfilesday.org

Join the
Race-to-Recycle, a WasteCap program, which offers Massachusetts businesses
the opportunity to get the recognition they deserve for their efforts in
waste reduction and recycling. The Race acknowledges leaders, beginners,
and many levels in between.
