An easy way to save money while reducing waste...buy recycled computer disks
In this day and age we are all busily at work on our computers. And what better way to
save all this hard work then on recycled diskettes.
Recycled diskettes could have joined the 4 million disks that end up in a landfill or
incinerator each day, creating a trash pile of over 1 billion disks per year. Instead
these disks are the products of remanufacturers who are refurbishing outdated and unsold
products from software companies. The old packaging is recycled and the disks are
magnetically erased, reformatted, and relabeled. Since only premium grade disks are used
for software, the recycled diskettes are high quality. They typically pass three quality
control tests - the original manufacturer, the software publisher, and then the
remanufacturer.
Rather than recreating existing products from raw materials, companies are simply
transforming the diskettes. Purchasing the recycled disks not only reduces waste, but it
saves money. The cost of a recycled diskette may be about 20%-40% less than virgin disks.
