Purchasing
Energy-Efficient Products
Did you know that your office could become more energy
efficient by buying certain products?
·
An
Energy Star labeled exit sign operates on less than five watts per face,
using up to 35 watts less than a typical exit sign. One Energy Star
labeled exit sign can save about $15 - $20 annually in electricity costs,
compared to typical, incandescent signs.
In addition, an
Energy Star exit sign can last 25 years without a lamp replacement,
compared to less than one year for an incandescent sign, saving on labor
costs for changing the bulbs.
·
Energy Star labeled copiers are equipped with a feature that
allows them to automatically turn off after a period of inactivity,
reducing a copier's annual electricity costs by over 60%.
Also, high-speed copiers that include a duplexing unit that is set
to automatically make double-sided copies can reduce paper costs by $60 a
month and help to save trees.
Exit signs and copiers are
just two examples of over 11,000 products that can be purchased with the
Energy Star label, meaning they have passed strict guidelines for energy
efficiency. Energy Star
products include Office Equipment, Heating and Cooling Equipment,
Lighting, Exit Signs, Windows, Appliances, Electronics, Water Coolers,
Transformers, and Traffic Lights.
The advantages of using
Energy Star products
- They
reduce energy costs without compromising quality or performance.
- They
help prevent air pollution by burning less fossil fuel and lowering
greenhouse gas emissions.
- They
offer extended product life and decreased maintenance.
