Plastic Lumber: the durable, low maintenance alternative to wood

Recycled plastic lumber offers a great alternative for products such as decking, marine piers, park benches and tables, playground equipment, parking stops and speed bumps, signs, flower planters, and litter or recycling bins.

Plastic lumber products are weather resistant (they hold up well in wet conditions), non-toxic, graffiti resistant, and non-porous.  They will not splinter or crack.  While these products may be of greater cost than wooden ones, lifecycle analysis finds them to be more durable and require less maintenance.

Choosing recycled plastic lumber saves trees and landfill space by re-circulating resources.

Visit the Recycled Plastic Products Directory to identify companies producing recycled plastic products.  The American Plastics Council and the Environment and Plastics Industry Council (EPIC) of Canada prepare the directory.
