Aluminum Association, Inc.
This trade association works to better aluminum's position among materials, increase the use of aluminum, and eliminate impediments that prevent the use of aluminum to its fullest.  This site includes a history of aluminum recycling, information about the aluminum industry, and publications for order. 


Composting (food and yard residues)

The US Composting Council
The USCC (Council) is a non profit (501.c.6) national organization with approximately 200 members. The Council also directs the Composting Council Research and Education Foundation (CCREF) a 501.c.3 charitable foundation, which administers public and private research and education grant activities.

Humusphere
Includes information about vermicomposting, commercial composting, and links to vendors.  

Environmental Protection Agency: Compost Page
This site by the EPA contains documents about innovative uses for compost. 


Glass

The Glass Packaging Institute
The recycling page includes publications about glass recycling, information about secondary uses for cullet, and statistics on Americans' glass recycling rate. 


Oil

National Oil Recyclers Association
This trade association works to advance the interests of companies in the world that recycle oil safely.  The site contains news pertinent to the oil industry, information on oil recycling, and a description of a guide to companies, products, and services.

Paper

American Forest and Paper Association
Information on this site covers general and specific topics about paper, including the paper Industry's Pollution Prevention Report, the AF&PA Community Paper Recycling Survey Results, and general information on old corrugated cardboard, newspaper, writing paper, and paper and paperboard packaging. 

Cutting Paper
Contains a summary of the office paper used in America, practical ways to reduce the amount of paper used with an analysis of the savings that result, and case studies of businesses' office paper reduction efforts. 


Plastic

American Plastics Council
This site explains the process of plastic recycling, lists the 1997 Recycling Rate Study, and contains many reports on plastic recycling including "How to Collect Plastic for Recycling" and "Stretch Wrap Recycling:  A How-to Guide."

National Association for PET Container Resources
This trade association promotes and facilitates #1 PET Plastic collection and recycling.   Their site includes product and market information for recycling professionals, PET recycling basics for consumers, and recycled PET product information. 

Polystyrene Packaging Council
This site provides market information, educational and resource materials, and environmental information about polystyrene recycling. 


Steel

The American Iron and Steel Institute
Information on this site explains why steel is North American's number one recycled materials, the commodities consumers are recycling, and the benefits of steel recycling.  

Steel Recycling Institute
SRI's Website includes 1997 steel recycling rates, an on-line version of the quarterly newsletter The Recycling Magnet, and the" Steel Recycling Clock," which projects how much steel has been recycled to date this year.


Textiles

Council for Textile Recycling
The Council works to increase the amount of textiles that are recoverable while developing new uses, products, and markets from pre-consumer and post-consumer textiles.  This site contains a textile recycling fact sheet, an overview of the textile industry, and a look at the industry's environmental practices. 


Wood Pallets

National Wooden Pallet and Container Association
NWPCA is a trade association that represents the interests of those who manufacture, recycle, and distribute pallets, containers, and reels.  Information on how to determine your pallet performance needs can be found on this site.
