Race-to-Recycle (This program is currently suspended)

The Race-to-Recycle is an annual competition open to all businesses in Massachusetts.  The contest evaluates and awards participants based on their recycling and waste reduction efforts, placing a large emphasis on the business’ recycling percentage.

The Race also offers networking and educational programs throughout the year.  Quarterly workshops for Race participants will bring them together with speakers and WasteCap staff to share ideas, gain insight, and increase recycling percentages.

All businesses occupying Massachusetts facilities are eligible to participate.  Businesses with recycling programs at all levels (even if you are just implementing one!) are encouraged to join.

View the Race-to-Recycle page for further details.

Marine Shrink Wrap Recycling Project

Initiated and developed by WasteCap, E.L. Harvey & Sons  now runs the collection system aimed at recycling marine shrink wrap from Massachusetts boatyards and marinas.  Shrink wrap, which is used to protect the boats during the winter dry-docking season, has been identified by marina owners, the American Plastics Council, and others as a serious waste disposal problem for both the marina industry and local landfills where the material is ultimately laid to rest.  For more information click here.

Site Visit Program

bs00953_.wmf (4502 bytes)WasteCap Site Visits are facility-specific waste assessments of businesses and institutions.  Site visits rely on teams from WasteCap's professional volunteer network of waste-reduction specialists who make specific recommendations about improving your organization’s solid waste disposal program.  WasteCap volunteers come from a broad spectrum of industries and have experience finding and addressing opportunities to conserve corporate and natural resources.

Supermarket Recycling Organics Initiative (ROI)

WasteCap, the Massachusetts Food Association, and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection introduced the Supermarket Recycling Organics Initiative (ROI) in February of 2003.
