Results:  This LEED Platinum Project recycled 7,635 tons of construction materials, and achieved an overall recycling rate of about 92%.

Results:  This demolition project recycled a total of 983 tons of material, which resulted in a 94.8% diversion rate for the project and achieved LEED Gold for Core and Shell.

Froedtert North Tower Vertical Expansion
July 2007 – December 2008

Client:  Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin
Contractor:  Mortenson Construction
Results:  This project added 4 stories on top of existing North Addition at Froedtert, and achieved the project's goal of 50% recycling by diverting 255 tons of material from landfills.

Prairie Apartments
July 2008 – December 2008

LEED for Homes

Client:  Prairie Apartments
Contractor:  VJS Construction Services
Results:  This project earned 2 LEED points by diverting 75% of the construction waste, for a total of 158,000 tons of recycled material and achieved a LEED Gold Certification in the LEED for Homes program.

St. Luke’s Healing Garden
July 2008 – December 2008

Client:  Aurora St. Lukes Hospital

Results:  Over 65 tons of construction waste was recycled from the site, which lead to an 83.6% diversion rate, meeting the goal of 75% diversion.

Allied Drive Demolition
July 2008 – October 2008

Location:  2300 and 2400 blocks of Allied Drive, 4705 and 4709 Jenewein Road  Madison, WI 53711
Client:  City of Madison: Department of Planning and Development

Results:  The goal for this demolition project was 75% diversion, and by the end of the project, 90% of the waste had been recycled.

Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company
August 2006 – September 2008

Location:  Two Northwestern Mutual  Way Franklin, WI  53132
Client:  Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company
Contractor:  Opus North Corporation
Results:  Crews diverted 5,179 cubic yards recyclables, diverting 71.86% of the construction waste by reusing and recycling – exceeding the goal of 50%.

UW-Stevens Point Baldwin Hall
May 2008 – August 2008

Client:  UW-Stevens Point
Contractor:  Ellis Stone Construction, Inc.
Results:  The overall recycling rate was about 90 percent, which exceeded the project goal of 75 percent.  A total of 231 tons of construction materials were diverted from the site.

1212 W. Wisconsin Building, Marquette
April 2008 – June 2008

Results:  Over 98% of this demolition project was recycled, the vast majority of that coming in the form of concrete/masonry.  6,866 tons of material was recycled.

Interdisciplinary Research Complex
October 2005 – April 2008

Client: University of Wisconsin

Results:  The project achieved a 75% diversion rate – exceeding the goal of 60% – and saved the client over $200,000 by recycling waste materials.


Wisconsin Public Service Weston 4 Project
October 2004 – April 2008
Location:  2501 Morrison Avenue  Rothschild, Wisconsin 54474
Client:  Wisconsin Public Service Corp: Weston Plant
Contractor:  Washington Group International
Results:  Recycling on this project saved the client about $720,000.  The contractor was able to achieve a recycling rate of about 82%, or 9,587 tons of recycled material.

Froedtert Cancer Pavilion
November 2005 – March 2008

Client:  Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin

Results:  Including the parking garage that was demolished, the recycling rate was about 96%, with about 21,111 tons of material diverted for recycling.

Harley-Davidson Museum
May 2006 – February 2008
Location:  500 West Canal Street, Milwaukee, WI 53203
Client:  Harley-Davidson Motor Company
Contractor:  Mortenson Construction
Results:  1,361 tons of recyclables were collected from this project, leading to a 73% diversion rate.  975 tons of concrete were recycled and the project met its goal of 50% diversion.

The Brico Fund Corporate Office
November 2005 – November 2007

Results:  Restorations to this 150+ year old, 6,000 sqft historic house included eco-friendly pavers, recycled carpet, low VOC paint, and increased daylighting.

Walmart, Oshkosh
September 2007 – November 2007

Results:  More that 90 percent of the waste generated during the demolition process was recycled, including about 7000 tons of concrete.

Columbia St. Mary's Hospital: Ozaukee Campus  
January 2006 – October 2007

Results:  The $63 million, 329,000 sqft project had an overall recycling rate of 79.64% by weight, well exceeding the 50% goal for the project.
Awards: 2006 Big Diverter Award for highest recycling rate on a new construction project.

JohnsonDiversey Building

Location:  8310 16th Street  Sturtevant, WI  53177
Client:  JohnsonDiversey
Contractor:  Mortenson Construction
Results:  1,273 tons of construction material was recycled, producing a 58% diversion rate for this project.  The builder was able to save $16,700 by recycling on this project.

UW-Whitewater College of Business and Economics
May 2007 – August 2007

Results:  This 188,000 sqft building had a recycling rate of about 66%, diverting a total of 581 tons of waste from landfills.

American Family Children's Hospital
June 2005 – June 2007

Client:  American Family Children's Hospital
Contractor:  J.H. Findorff & Son, Inc.
Results: This 420,000 sqft, $65 million hospital recycled a total of 62.77% by weight, exceeding the project goal of 50% recycling rate.

Epic Systems Corporation

Location:  600 Highland Avenue, Madison, WI  53792

Contractor: J.H. Findorff and Son
Results:  74% of construction wastes were recycled from this 500,000 sqft headquarters, ultimately diverting over 1,900 tons of waste from landfills.

Jansen Group – Five Projects
June 2006 – June 2007
Location: Girl Scout Camp, East Troy; Beck's Mini Mart, Saukville; Mason Temple, Milwaukee; St. Anthony's Church, Menomonee Falls; Grafton Police Department, Grafton
Contractor:  The Jansen Group
Results:  At the five sites, the total overall recycling rate was about 80%.  1,287 tons of material were recycled, and about $37,000 was saved due to reuse and recycling.

Kettle Foods: Beloit Plant

Results: The Kettle Foods Beloit Plant Project is a 70,000 square foot, $8.2 million food manufacturing facility, which includes 5,000 square feet of office space.

Milwaukee Technical and Trade School Demolition 
June 2006 – December 2006

Client: Milwaukee Public School District
Contractor:  Champion Environmental Services
Results: The demolition had an overall recycling rate of 99.07% and cost $2.5 million to deconstruct.
Awards:  2006 Big Diverter award for highest recycling rate on a demolition project.

Columbia St. Marys Hospital – East Campus
March 2004 – June 2006

Results:  This project met its 50% recycling goal; diverting about 95% of construction waste and saving over $200,000 in waste hauling costs.

Bielinski Homes Vinyl Recycling Program
January 2004 – December 2005

Client:  Bielinski Homes
Contractor:  Bielinski Homes
Results: Bielinski Homes built about 800 homes in 2004 in fifteen neighborhoods.  In Spring, 2004, one neighborhood implemented a recycling program.  By the end of 2004, a recycling system was developed which will apply to all new neighborhoods constructed by Bielinski Homes.
Veridian Homes Vinyl Recycling Program
January 2005 – December 2005

Results:  44,440 pounds of vinyl siding was recycled from the construction of 235 new homes in the Madison area and the program was a qualified success.
Marine Terminal Lofts

LEED Silver for Commercial Interiors Pilot Program
Location:  100 N. Broadway  Milwaukee, WI  53202
Client:  HGA
Contractor:  J.H. Findorff & Son
Results:  This project achieved an 81% diversion rate, including the reuse of 18 tons of metal and 16 tons of drywall from the building.
Madison Gas & Electric – West Campus Cogeneration Facility
November 2003 – June 2005

Contractor:  JF Ahern, AZCO, JP Cullen & Sons, and Westphall & Company, Inc.
Results:  This project achieved a 75.35% recycling rate, saving the client $103,651 and converting 2,037.45 tons of materials into valuable resources.
Retzer Nature Center Expansion

Results:  The 16,000 sqft expansion to the Retzer Nature Center met the goal of 75% diversion by recycling 82% of the materials from the site.
Overture Center for the Arts

Results:  WasteCap Wisconsin helped connect a building owner, contractors and nonprofit organizations to reuse over 1,000 items from the old Bank One and Yost buildings in Madison.
Harley-Davidson Product Development Center Expansion
April 2002 – March 2003

Client:  Harley-Davidson Motor Company
Contractor:  Affiliated Construction Services 
Results:  Crews diverted 236 tons of recyclables, saved over $10,000 in avoided disposal costs, and diverted 76.4% of the construction waste.
Schlitz Audubon Nature Center Project Final Report

Results:  115 tons of waste were recycled, diverting 78.7% of the construction waste, saving 42.5% in disposal costs.

Results:  Waste disposal costs were cut by 33% and waste weight by 68%, which exceeded the project goal of 50% diversion.
